Language: English

Short Description: This exam preparation course was designed to focus on both the common and most challenging coding concepts of the CPC exam. It is targeted at students with prior training or experience in medical coding who are looking for a prep course before sitting for their exam. Students are able to take the course at their own pace and are given six months of access to the material. The review is divided up by domains covered on the exam, allowing students to focus on the areas where they find themselves lacking. The review provides valuable test prep, such as demonstrating techniques for marking and using code books. Code books are not included with this course. Each session is an area of focus on the exam and will provide a review of key concepts, test taking tips and strategies, and a review of most commonly missed questions. This package includes the exam prep course, the official study guide, a three practice exam package, membership, and an exam voucher for the CPC exam.
Students will:
Learn testing strategies
Review frequently missed questions
Participate in a focused review of each domain of the exam
Review online interactive lectures, created by expert certified instructors
Review sample test questions to solidify learning as you progress through the review

Instructor Description: This course is fully self-paced. Students will be supported by a client adviser who will provide technical assistance and monitor progress.

Certification: The CPC examination consists of questions regarding the correct application of ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes used for billing professional medical services to insurance companies. Examinees must also demonstrate knowledge on proper modifier use, coding guidelines and regulatory rules.
A CPC must have at least two years medical coding experience (member's with an apprentice designation are not required to have two years medical coding experience.) Membership is required to be renewed annually and 36 Continuing Education Units (CEU's) must be submitted every two years for verification and authentication of expertise.
Due to the level of expertise required of medical coders, AAPC expects certified coders to be able to perform not only in an exam setting but also in the real world. In addition to passing the certification exam, coders will also be required to demonstrate on-the-job coding experience. Those who pass the CPC exam but have not yet met this requirement will be designated as an Apprentice (CPC-A) on their certificate.
CPC-A Status: Members with an Apprentice designation are still required to submit annual CEUs while completing the coding job requirement.

This course requires the following materials NOT included with the course:
• Current Year AMA’s CPT, ICD, and HCPCS Coding Manuals
